We know that household costs continue to put pressure on many customers. Paying rent on time helps protect your home and enables Freebridge to continue investing in services for customers and communities.

If you are worried about paying your rent, please contact us as early as possible. The sooner we hear from you, the more options we have to help and support you.

Our team can help you understand your rent account, agree manageable payment options, and connect you with the right support. This may include income advice, benefit checks, budgeting support, help to maximise your income, or referrals to specialist debt advice agencies where needed.

We also know that some people prefer to look for advice themselves before speaking to us. If this feels easier, you can get free, confidential debt and budgeting advice from StepChange Debt Charity or Citizens Advice. You can also use independent benefits calculators such as entitledto and Turn2us to check whether you may be able to claim extra support.

Depending on your circumstances, you may also be able to make or check a claim for Universal Credit, Housing Benefit if you are of pension age or live in supported, sheltered or temporary accommodation, or Personal Independence Payment if you have a long-term health condition or disability. These services can be accessed online through GOV.UK, and Citizens Advice can also help if you are unsure where to start.

Direct Debit is the easiest and most reliable way to pay, helping you keep payments regular and reduce the risk of falling behind. You can also pay by BACS if that works better for you.

If rent remains unpaid and we cannot agree a way forward with you, we may need to take further action in line with our rent arrears procedure. This could include applying to court. We want to avoid this wherever possible, which is why it is important that you keep talking to us.

Please do not wait until things become difficult. If you are struggling, or think you may struggle, contact our Customer Experience team and we will help connect you with the right adviser.
