Consultation has concluded
Are you interested in volunteering at your local library?
As part of the DCMS-funded Know Your Neighbourhood Project, which is aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation, libraries in the Great Yarmouth and King’s Lynn boroughs are looking for new volunteers.
This is to help lead groups to support people at the following three key stages in their lives, where they might feel particularly lonely or isolated:
When they become a parent or carer by offering Stay and Play sessions.
When they experience unemployment or lose a job by offering Job Clubs.
When they lose a loved one by offering Bereavement Cafés.
The libraries covered in this project are: West Norfolk - Dersingham, Downham Market, Gaywood, Hunstanton and King’s Lynn. East Norfolk - Caister, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth and Martham.
Interested? You can visit informal drop-in events for for a cuppa and a biscuit, where you can chat to coordinators about volunteering for the project - or to simply learn a little more about it.
The drop-in events are on the following dates: Wednesday 24th January 2024 10:00-18:30 at Gaywood Library (River Lane, King's Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 4HD) and Wednesday 31st January 2024 10:00-18:30 at Great Yarmouth Library (Tollhouse Street, Norfolk, NR30 2SH).
